Entry Requirements
wxCamp Shelby is an active military post training personnel for overseas service in the Global War
wxon Terrorism. Although the requirements below may sound intimidating, you will find the
wxmilitary personnel at Camp Shelby helpful and polite as they perform their duties
wxat the South Gate.

wxEntry requirements are as follows:
wxx1. Valid photo identification for each adult entering post.
wxx2. Valid registration for vehicles driven on post.
wxx3. Valid proof of insurance for vehicles driven on post / drivers on post.
wxx4. Private firearms are not permitted on post.
wxx5. Vehicles and persons are subject to search.
Driving Directions
wxThe Mississippi Armed Forces Museum is located approximately 12 miles south of Hattiesburg,
wxMississippi. Public entry to Camp Shelby is through the South Gate on US Highway 49.
wxSouthbound traffic on US 49 will pass the Camp Shelby North Gate enroute to the South Gate.
wxPlease do not attempt to enter Camp Shelby via the North Gate. The guards are required to
wxdirect you to the South Gate for proper entry.
wxFrom Interstate 59
wxx1. Take Exit 59, US 98 East towards Mobile, Alabama.
wxx2. On US 98 East, take the US 49 South (Mississippi Gulf Coast) exit.
wxx3. Follow US 49 South approximately 3 miles to the Camp Shelby South Gate turn.
wxx4. Follow the South Gate Road to the Camp Shelby South Gate. Once on post,
wwxxxfollow the signs to the museum.
wxFrom US 49
wxx1. Southbound. Proceed south out of Hattiesburg on US 49 until you see the Camp Shelby
wwxxxSouth Gate sign. It is located approximately 3 miles south of the US 98 and US 49
wwxxxintersection. Once on post, follow the signs to the museum.
wxx2. Northbound. Turn on to South Gate Road at the Camp Shelby South Gate sign.
wwxxxOnce on post,
follow the signs to the museum.
wxFrom US 98 East (westbound traffic)
wxx1. At the US 98 East and US 49 interchange, take the US 49 South exit
wwxxx(Mississippi Gulf Coast).2. Proceed south on US 49 until you see the Camp Shelby
wwxxxSouth Gate sign. It is locatedapproximately 3 miles south of the US 98
wwxxxand US 49 intersection. Once on post,follow the signs to the museum.
